WAR HORSE

Hello

We went and watched Warhorse recently. I somehow missed all the hype for this film so in that respect I was lucky. I was quite impressed with it to be honest, I think because of the sheer fact that they made a film with the horse being the main protagonist, and it did hold its own. . .thumbs up, well done Mr. Horse πŸ™‚ The story was solid generally enjoyable, but more enjoyable while watching with someone, I think if I was on my own watching it i would have not liked it as much. Defiantly a ‘couple film’ It did feel segmented like lots of little stories joined together, but I don’t think to the detriment of the film, I may have even helped it because if it had the same people around the horse for the whole movie it may have become too much.

Another element that I wasn’t expecting was that this film made me interested in World War 1 so i recently watched bird song on the i player, (but thats’ a different review) so in terms of evoking interest in the subject matter I suppose it worked πŸ™‚

THE DARK TOWER – EDDIE DEAN – GUNSLINGER

Hello πŸ™‚

After some time here is the next poster, in The Dark Tower series – Eddie Dean of New York – Gunslinger – Part of the Ka-tet. last week or so I have been so busy I haven’t really had time to work on many posters but I have managed to finish this one off πŸ™‚ very happy with this one featuring Blaine the Mono. There was a bit of debate on how to represent Blaine because on the book cover hes a steam train and in the book hes a monorail, so what I have tried to do is incorporate elements of both, but generally try and just get the ‘feel’ off the character over. Ive also tried to represent Eddie’s playful manor from the books as well because i think that is the essence of the charterer. I’m very very happy with this poster and the way it turned out the colour split worked beautiful in this and generally satisfied in the final version. Enjoy πŸ™‚

Thanks for visiting and your comments and ‘likes’ are always welcome and very much appreciated and come back soon πŸ™‚ Jakes up next

chapter 05 -the TERMINAL

Two worlds, and we are just hosts to a conciousness that travels between them when we sleep? My questions were experiencing mitosis and the answers had flat lined and checked out of mother nature’s balance. The nightmares were getting worse. Yesterday I’d been stood up by the man, but in my dream I felt like I was just back at the warehouse taking to him. Now I clearly remember my nightmares, and have a box from it, I must remember everything more clearly because of this box. My life had all the pieces to the puzzle but no picture as a reference. When I studied it closer, I saw it had letters and numbers written on it. I’d seen this before, back at the heart, on a terminal. The box was a corrupt General, ordering his dark army of dead men to die over and over. Everything was leading me back, back to square one. What plagued my mind was the fact that time diluted the truth to the point where only shadows remain. Sayings where no-one knows where they came from. Chinese whispers through the ages, half truths and bent lies, natures politics. All the cliques were running, spawning and laughing in my mind. Like a crazy man that has guessed right and getting off on the fact that he could say ‘I told you so’, And I was just another pawn in this cold, sadistic, logical game of life. It took a while to get back to the warehouse, I was relying on a figment of a past memory. I stepped into the light, back into the pain. Mother nature said a shivery whisper pleading me to stay in the dark, giving me a cold sweat, she knew I understood its reality. It was my second home. I was seeing double from the drive and I was running on fumes. I hoped the terminal still worked, this place had seen better days. As the lights decayed the warehouse watched me draw closer. I’d found its epicentre, its moment of truth. The terminal looked straight back at me, worried it would offend me. Worried what I would do with the answers being the bearer of bad news, worried that I had the power to switch it off and kill its exsistance, taking everything else with it. The fear harvested responsibility, it was responsible. I was here to shoot the messenger.

Drummer in my home town Southampton :)

Hello πŸ™‚

I was out in Southampton on the weekend and saw this guy. Now, i’ve seen alot of real crazy good street performers on youtube but never live ,and thought it was a breath of fresh air for Southampton, so fair play. Thought i would show my support so here is the link from someone that was recording it πŸ™‚ only problem is you don’t get to see much of the robot dancing, that was awesome πŸ™‚ Enjoy

HAYWIRE

Hello πŸ™‚

Just seen Haywire, its very ‘Bourne’ ( identity, supremacy, ultimatum ) but with a female as the lead role. I think this film will appeal to fans of ‘Bourne’ series but because this has been quite recent and very well produced, Haywire is up against strong competition from what has gone before in this genre, and to be honest doesn’t stand up very well against it. I think this is because it doesn’t really add anything new to the table, The fact that the lead is a woman doesn’t change it enough to make me think ‘oh ok this is a new take’ it makes me think more like its a gimmick. If this film was first then I would more than likely be singing its praises a bit more, but being so recent after the ‘Bourne’ series it works against the title. Storyline is pretty solid, like you would expect, government frame job she gets revenge but with no real new twist and to be honest I got a touch bored. In summery, see this film if you are a fan of this genre, stay away if you dislike this style or even think you have had your fill from ‘Bourne’

Comments always welcome, thanks for visiting come back soon πŸ™‚
