Finally the last in the character posters for The Dark Tower. This one is The Dark Tower – Susannah Dean of New York – Gunslinger – Part of the Ka-tet. It’s a bit more abstract than the Jake poster, trying to encompass more elements and themes from Susannah’s character. Let me know what you think, feedback always welcome 🙂

chapter 07 – the GUN
Eyes have not seen and ears have not heard
The information had eyes, glaring over my shoulder. The balance between opposites transcends nature and into technology, instead of the male and female, you have your ones and zeros, the binding of star matter, it’s all singing the same song. It confirms what the man told me, I wish I had been lied to. It was almost word for word to what the man said.
You must remember your memories on the other world, otherwise you would not be able to retain the password, it would be stored in another shell.
Events were unfolding like a fragmentation of still shots interwoven with in the broken night, as it riddled on…
You must be a product of living in both worlds without the ability to forget or comprehend, hence your nightmares, they’re you, when you’re on the other world. That makes you a separate entity, your conciousness cannot leave your body and therefore you do not share it with any other shell. When you were separated from this link, a shell on the other world died to even up the numbers, you are on your own rejected from life.
I was the blind leading the blind, going deeper into the dark dead forest of reality.
You physically shift between worlds, remembering everything, belonging to neither. More accurately, existing in a place accessible by both, the grey area.
The box was like a bad conscience that I couldn’t shake, the man said it would explain everything, but I assume he meant it would lead me to this realisation.
There is a stabilising element that balances the two worlds, this element controls the flux of events that takes place in both places, it creates a balance, that designs the outcome.
I felt another’s presence, glaring over my shoulder, monitoring me, in the shadows, being one step ahead of the game. Everything was there in front of me, I had to stick to my guns and bite the bullet to accept it. This now, was the beginning of the end, this is where my fate took over. He was back to claim my help, but with what? It didn’t seem like he wanted my help. He was here to alter the design, to put the guinea pig down. Now I was the one that needed the help.

Just seen Wanderlust with Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. I thought it was very mediocre and slightly amazed this film even got made. There are some nice parts in the film which is mainly at the pay off at the end when everything returns back to normal. There are parts (I remember one) I laughed out loud but not an overly funny film, although lots of times inside i would think (ha ha) and that’s the only reason i wasn’t overly bored probally. Not a cinema film, barely a DVD film. The storyline was massively over the top, and this is coming from a sci-fi fan!. Although I wasn’t bored, but i didn’t care for the characters, I came out thinking ‘ oh ok, yeah, irrelevant film, didn’t offend, very harmless’ Very forgettable. The is film is soon bland nothing really stood out for me, Its saving grace would probably be its a very bland, non-offensive date night film. If anyone else has seen it let me know what you think 🙂

We recently saw The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. It was very good I was very impressed, it was really quite funny in places. I think i dint expect too much because I thought the storyline may be very flimsy because its just a bunch of old people going to a retirement home, but the story, I thought was quite solid. It never felt like it dragged and had a good pace to the movie. It wasn’t too long and it was a perfect one to see with my wife, its a bit of a ‘popcorn’ movie but sometimes that’s really nice. Oh and the guy that runs the hotel is awesome in it, I think he was in Slum Dog.
From looking at some film critics online, like Guardian and some others, they seem to bash the movie. Now they probably know more than me, because their experts, but i really liked it, it was genuinely funny tackled some issues and appealed to a wide age range. The comments under most of the reviews seem to love the movie. . I don’t understand critics 
If you want some easy watching, go for it. If you see it let me know what you think.

Went to the cinema and saw Chronicle, it’s different from what I expected, for starters, I didn’t know it was all done through a camera. That made it little annoying at the time because it feels like a gimmick to make it feel more ‘real’.
Saying this it’s quite good in the beginning because when there using their powers to muck about its kind of what you would do if you suddenly had powers, but later on in the film it starts to take itself very seriously and then it gets a little too ‘funny story with a moral’ I think if they kept it in the same light as in the beginning and more light hearted it would have appealed to me more because I have seen a million times ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ angle before.
It feels like your having fun with mates seeing them muck around with powers and its quite fun seeing them realise what they can do, then at the studio someones walked in and said ‘ yeah its fun and’al but what’s the message, why are they here. . where’s this film going people, it needs to go from A-B. . . make it happen’ so they got pressure to tag on a moral to the story. This element mixed in with the camcorder effect makes it hard watching at the end. Then by latching a serious part to the film makes you lose all empathy with the characters because it feels ‘forced’ i dint care if they all died at the end really. I’m no professional at reviewing films but that’s just how it feels. It was a good 30-40 minutes then its really starts to lose its way I feel, up to then its pretty good 🙂

Here’s the next poster 🙂 The Dark Tower – Jake Chambers of New York – Gunslinger – Part of the Ka-tet. OK OK right I’ve had a bit of a debate inside my own head about this one. I know when Jake’s at the way station he doesn’t have OY with him, but if I’m drawing Jake i want him with OY and the most recognizable setting for Jake was the way station, so the posters more of a collage or collection of elements related to Jake. . . Yes i took artistic license, let me know what you think, Comments always welcome 🙂

chapter 06 -the PASSWORD
I sat gazing into the light of the screen as if it was the head lamps of the oncoming train, and I was the guinea pig, transfixed by the beam. The keys I pressed were worn, the letters were nearly faded off. The game of life looking like a ying and yang symbol, and i’m the dot contained within both halves. Everything needed an opposite, a pair, a male – female, a dream – nightmare, heaven – hell, conciousness – shells, the two worlds. Life needs the opposite to function and mother nature needed the balance. The clues were always there, but I’m only now connecting the dots. It only showed the words ‘CABLEOP’ nothing else, just another dead end, the guinea pig in a maze getting spoon fed answers and information, to keep wanting more. The inevitable took effect, my shell expired, well that’s what I thought at the time. I collapsed onto the keyboard.
No rest for the wicked. The other world had taken me, the surroundings were deafening as it screamed its pain into my face, to free it from its duty, its repetitive life cycle, enslaved behind bars. I was back at the terminal, staring into the abyss. How was I physically here if only my conciousness is supposed to shift? Why is the terminal on if I have only just got here? I never switched it on in this world. Blue fire was devouring my brains with the words ‘CABLEOP’, everything looked the same, just with a different halo, a different walk of life. I typed in the address again, I got the feeling that ‘me’ and ‘it’ were recognisable strangers, we both knew each other, but if asked, we had plausible deniability, we’re almost friends, or enemy’s, I forget now which to keep closer. I was nearing the point of no return, sinking deeper and deeper. It showed me that I crossed the line, the one I had everything riding on, I was in over my head. This was to be the count down to the last domino to fall that would set my destiny into play. This was the ‘need to know’ information and I had located it, standing on the edge of the presibus. I had gotten this far, now I needed to know. I typed in ‘CABLEOP’, and felt the last domino fall. Realisation hit me square in the face, the opposites, the key and the lock. The ideal place to hide information, the key on one world and the lock on the other, no shell could retain both parts. It was flashing my life before my eyes. It was going in, I was in fear of it, knowledge was power and power breeds fear.
